MIDI ENVELOPES

Always wanted more accuracy when drawing envelopes in Resolume? How about ALL the resolution in your DAW of choice. Midi Envelopes converts a MIDI track into an Resolume Envelope. This way you can create envelopes that are super accurate and in sync with your content. For example, you can edit a MIDI track onto a video. Simply set the exported Envelope in Resolume to ‘Clip Position’ for that Video / Audio track and it’s perfectly in sync, when you trigger the clip.

USAGE

Within your DAW of choice, let’s say Ableton Live for example, create a MIDI track. Fill the Track with notes. Every note is a point for the envelope. Midi Envelopes has 3 ‘Min Max’ modes, that scale the height of your envelope:

(normal, automatically and custom)

By creating these envelopes that are in sync with a Clip it’s very easy to switch between different parameter values on a specific time during playback of a song. Sync everything up to the drop of a song by simply creating a midi note when the drop hits.

By using your DAW you have all the accuracy in the because of quantization tools. You can even play in your Envelope with a keyboard.

QUICK GUIDE

Midi Files

Go to your DAW of choice, let’s say Ableton Live for example, and create a MIDI track. Fill the Track with notes. Every note is a point for the envelope. Export the single MIDI clip and load the exported MIDI clip with the 'Open MIDI' button. For more information, definitely check out our Tutorial Video, where we show you the ropes!

Scaling

Midi Envelopes has 3 ‘Min Max’ modes that scale the height of your envelope: Normal from 0 100 means that the floor and the ceiling of your envelope will be from MIDI note 0 to MIDI note 100.

You can also set Midi Envelopes to ‘set automatically from file’. This way Midi Envelopes looks at the lowest and highest MIDI note in your MIDI track and adjusts the scale of the Envelope accordingly.

It’s also possible to enter your own scale in the ‘custom from int to int’ mode.

Playback speed

Midi Envelopes is basically ripping the MIDI track and writing the played notes to an XML file. You can select a playback speed to increase the 'processing' time. The faster speed you choose, the more resolution you loose.

So be aware and choose wisely!
